Expand FPGA Access Across Europe

Altera Corporation, the largest pure-play FPGA solutions provider, and Rutronik, a leading European electronics distributor, today announced a strategic distribution agreement to expand customer access to Altera’s industry-leading FPGA portfolio across the European market.

The agreement strengthens Altera's multi-distributor strategy by providing customers with greater purchasing flexibility, enhanced technical support, and improved supply chain resilience. With its strong regional presence and deep technical expertise, Rutronik will help customers accelerate programmable innovation from concept through production.

Thomas Boudrot, Head of EMEA Sales at Altera, commented, "As an independent FPGA company, Altera is focused on delivering the solutions customers need to innovate faster. Rutronik's technical sales team brings a unique and focused approach to the European electronics market and its commitment to customer success make them a valuable addition to our multi-channel ecosystem.”

Rutronik's highly specialized Field Application Engineers (FAEs) and technical sales teams bring extensive expertise in programmable logic, embedded architectures, power management, connectivity, and system-level design. Combined with Rutronik's award-winning Rutronik System Solutions ecosystem, customers gain access to comprehensive design-in support, reference platforms, and application-specific expertise that accelerate FPGA adoption and reduce development complexity. As an independent, family-owned technology distributor, Rutronik is uniquely positioned to support customers throughout the entire innovation cycle, from architecture definition and proof-of-concept development to volume production and long-term lifecycle management.

The addition of Altera significantly strengthens Rutronik's semiconductor portfolio and expands our ability to support customers developing next-generation intelligent systems," said Reza Armin Maghdounieh, Vice President Product Marketing Semiconductors at Rutronik. "As FPGA technologies become increasingly critical for edge AI, industrial automation, machine vision, communications infrastructure, and high-performance embedded applications, customers require more than component availability. They need access to deep technical expertise, proven development platforms, and reliable supply chain execution. Through our partnership with Altera, we can deliver a comprehensive value proposition that helps customers shorten development cycles, optimize system performance, and accelerate time-to-market for innovative FPGA-based solutions.

Together, Altera and Rutronik will deliver a scalable and customer-centric engagement model across Europe, combining leading FPGA technologies with advanced engineering support, application expertise, and resilient supply chain services. Customers will benefit from faster design cycles, accelerated qualification processes, reduced development risk, and secure access to cutting-edge programmable solutions for rapidly evolving markets, including industrial automation, smart mobility, communications, medical technology, and edge AI.
