Die NetModule AG ist der LoRa AllianceTM als Adopter Member beigetreten. Die non-profit Organisation LoRa Alliance hat das Ziel, Low Power Wide Area Netzwerke zu standardisieren und so das Internet Of Things (IoT) und Machine-to-Machine (M2M) Kommunikation voranzutreiben. LoRaWANTM ist eine Netzwerkspezifikation für eine drahtlose Signalübertragung mit sehr großer Reichweite bei geringem Energieverbrauch.

Als Mitglied der LoRa Alliance kooperiert NetModule bei der Weiterentwicklung der Technologie mit anderen Mitgliedern, und hilft so, das IoT zu erschließen.

„Die Alliance bietet eine gute Basis für die Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Unternehmen, um so die LoRa-Technologie und vereinfachte IoT-Designs voranzutreiben“, so Jürgen Kern, CEO der NetModule AG.

Als erstes Ergebnis seines Beitritts präsentiert NetModule das Funktionsmuster eines LoRaWANTM-Gateways. Seine Besonderheiten sind die extrem niedrige Stromaufnahme und Einsetzbarkeit in Punkt-zu-Punkt oder Punkt-zu-Multipunkt-Anwendungen, die keinerlei Infrastruktur voraussetzen. Zielanwendungen sind Telemetrie, Condition Monitoring, Objekt Tracing und Smart Metering sowie Anwendungen, bei denen geringe Datenmengen per Funk über größere Entfernungen energieeffizient übertragen werden.
